Melbourne Adventure Racing Training

Are you in Melbourne? Always wanted to see what adventure races were all about but weren't sure you were up to it? Our training program could be just right for you.

For just $100 as your contribution, we have contracted Jarasport to provide 21 hours of training over five weeks. The fee also includes entry to the Kathmandu adventure race on 18 November 2007.

The training will provide theoretical knowledge and practical experience in each of the trail running/navigation, mountain biking and kayaking disciplines. The course will leave you confident of performing to your best and enjoying the delights of adventure racing.

Training Schedule:

Tuesday 6:15 - 7:30pm
Thursday 6:15 - 7:30pm
Saturday 8:30 - 10:00am

The first training session is on 9 October at which you will be given a detailed description of what will be covered in each training session.

Venue: Ivanhoe Northcote Canoe Club vicinity (Melways Ref 30 J12) - details will be given to participants before the first session.

Equipment:

Kayaks will be provided. Participants should bring their own mountain bikes. The sessions which will involve mountain biking will be given in the training details given at the first session. The first session will not involve any mountain biking.

Requirements:

  • You should be healthy and fit enough to complete a one hour physical training session.
  • You should be able to swim 50 metres in a personal floatation device.
  • You should be happy for us to take photos of you in the training program and race for us to use in future publicity.
  • You should be willing to commit to attending at least two of the three training sessions each week.

Selection:
